Maranello Alfa Romeo

100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE QUADRIFOGLIO

100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE QUADRIFOGLIO

Alfa Romeo is proud to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Quadrifoglio badge, the iconic symbol of luck and victory found on many of its high-performance models. Wondering where the design of the Quadrifoglio comes from, and how it’s come to symbolize the brand’s sportiest vehicles? Below, the Maranello Alfa Romeo team has compiled all the information drivers should know.

Where Does the Quadrifoglio Design Come From?

The usage of the Quadrifoglio badge on Alfa Romeo vehicles can be traced back to 1923, at the Targa Florio race in Italy. The Alfa Romeo team participated, hoping to bring home its first victory on the international racing stage. Hoping for victory, the team placed a four-leaf clover badge on the Corsa RL race car they had entered into the race. Later that day, Alfa Romeo driver Ugo Sivocci won the race, with teammate Alberto Ascari taking second. Ever since this prestigious victory, Alfa Romeo has adorned many of its racing and road vehicles with the Quadrifoglio badge.

Alfa Romeo Road Vehicles Using the Quadrifoglio Badge

The first vehicle off the race track to use the Quadrifoglio badge as part of its design was teh Giulia TI Super in 1963, nearly 40 years after the emblem made its debut. Limited to only 501 models, the Giulia TI Super was heavily inspired by Alfa Romeo’s racing vehicles. A gold variant of the Quadrifoglio badge was introduced as well, known as Quadrifoglio Oro, which made its debut on the Alfetta model in 1980.

Modern Alfa Romeo Vehicles Using the Quadrifoglio Badge

The 2023 Alfa Romeo Giulia and the 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio feature Quadrifoglio trims, which include a wide range of exclusive, sporty features and powerful engine options. Designed to create a thrilling driving experience, the Quadrifoglio badge found on these models illustrates their commitment to power and drivability.
