Stellantis, the 4th biggest automotive manufacturer, has merged its Alfa Romeo, Lancia, and erstwhile PSA’s DS brands to collaborate on the luxury market. Stellantis was created earlier this year through the merger of Fiat Chrysler and France’s PSA.
“Until 2026, Alfa Romeo will offer a new model every year,” Imparato said at a gathering for Italian dealers, statements subsequently verified by a Stellantis official. He stated that all-new Alfa Romeo automobiles would be electrified starting in 2027.
The Alfa Romeo Tonale, whose manufacturing was originally scheduled to begin by the end of 2021, will be unveiled in March of the following year, with sales beginning in June in Italy, according to Imparato.
Luca Napolitano, the CEO of Lancia, said at the same conference that he had given Stellantis CEO Carlo Tavares with a 10-year strategy for the company, which sells only a single model, the tiny Ypsilon, and exclusively in Italy.
To complement the group’s luxury portfolio from Alfa Romeo and DS, the plan seeks to grow the name to additional European markets, particularly France, Germany, and the Nordic nations, with an emphasis on major metropolitan areas.
The goal is to introduce Lancia to those areas where electric vehicles are marketed because we won’t be producing electric cars until 2026.
The goal in the top tier end of the market is not to forsake Ypsilon, but to push Lancia further beyond it, with the addition that three new models set to be released by 2028.
